Part-Timers at N.Y.U. Win Contract, Their First
By KAREN W. ARENSON
In its first contract with its unionized part-time faculty members, New York University has agreed to provide health benefits, pension contributions and some job security, as well as wage increases, according to a contract outline released yesterday by the union.
About 2,300 part-time instructors, or adjuncts, would be covered by the contract. The union, A.C.T.-U.A.W. Local 7902, was formed in 2002, in affiliation with the United Auto Workers, and says it is the largest adjunct-only union at a private university.
