I am inclined to agree with Brian Phillips. In my experience, those who
insist most on bringing politics into the classroom, usually are shallow
thinkers who cannot distinguish indoctrination from teaching analytic skills
-- skills sorely lacking in Taiwan. Too much talk (and heat) about the
silliness of THE ELECTION and too little about ELECTIONS.
For both blues and greens, the sole thing of import seems to be winning.
And a minimum of policy discussion.
I remember both times Vice President Mondale lost, the gracefulness with
which he conceded, and the praise he offered to the election process itself.
Would we might hear a bit of that graceful maturity here, in both the
streets and our classrooms.
Not sure a poll will tell us much of interest.
