I have been tutoring English to students for nearly 20 years, and still get requests to do so.  Now that I am unemployed from the corporate world, I'm thinking of getting a proper TESOL certificate so I can teach English and earn a decent wage.  I've read on one website that the three top certificates are those offered by Trinity, Cambridge & SIT.

I appreciate any feedback from TESOL teachers who have any TESOL certificates.  Please let me and all who reads this forum know if the certificate you have has helped you land on a decent paying teaching job.

Thanks.

That's a good question.

For most people, Trinity and Cambridge are pretty similar!

There are two courses

Certificate Course: 4 weeks intensive with practicums, etc. for beginning teachers

Diploma Course: 10 week course for those with sufficient experience.

Both are expensive, but worth it.

Here's one link http://www.britishcouncil.org/english/quals.htm

Best Wishes

I agree.

CELTA is the most internationally recognized pre-service ELT training course.
